Ive posted this on the Forum today, http://www.kisskissburlesque.co.uk Have a read and leave me a comment...or sign up for FREE and comment there...you'd be most welcome :)
Asking what is Burlesque is important, we do need definitions i guess...but i want to ask you what is your Burlesque? How do you view it? What is important? and not so? ...and how do feel about other's views on Burlesque? My Burlesque?? Well, its not just birds in lingerie (Though i do love it...but can appreciate Boylesque and Trans just as much too ) Far from it...to me, Burlesque covers so much...the performance art and stage shows are amazing, the costumes and footwear are stunning, the fact that anyone who wants to 'do' Burlesque can...no matter what size, background...if the person has the confidence and the passion to participate at any level, they can. This brings me on to the Community...the Burlesque community is growing, more active...lots happening, the Internet is a big factor i guess, the growth of communities like this forum (lol) is a positive move, enabling Burlesque lovers to hook up and chat, advertising local events...Members supporting each other to get out there, in what ever public or private way they wish.I dont go much into the politics myself, though i do understand the issues...I say just do it, whatever the gender...empowerment vs stripping? big deal...not! What a joke...im sorry, anyone who thinks that women are being demeaned, forced to do it (!) or whatever are just playing silly games...outdated now im afraid...Burlesque can be whatever one wants it to be...it's got a history, oh yes...in fact im reading up and enjoying the learning...and there are the 'Dark Tmes', i cannot disagree that women may have been used and abused in the name of 'Burlesque' just for Men's eyes and self-gratification...It's 2010!! 2010 i said!!
Hehe more to come!
Thats it for now, but i do wish to return to What is Burlesque? but i want to listen and read other's views,
Valentin x
